I uploaded photos on my space but I got that image from a different website. It is a photo of a place where I was born. I wonder if this is against the copyright laws? Does anybody knows?

You're supposed to get permission before using photos from websites, but something as little as that is no harm. They'd only go after you if you were trying to make money off of it.

its not against copyright laws. everyone does it. it's fine.

If the image is copyrighted, which most photos on the web usually are you are supposed to get permission. If they found out you used the photo and so chose to, they could force you to take it down. Most places won't take the time to do that unless you're using it commercially (to make money), though. If by some chance you did make money with it they could sue you for the profits.
