How do I put different hyperlinks into different areas of the same picture?

There's really nothing else to say...except that I'm interested in doing it for a picture that I plan on putting in a myspace bulletin---does that change anything?

Of course there are programs with tools that create such "pictures with links" for you [see other answers], but I assume YOU want control of and understanding of what you create. Even when I use such a tool, editing the results myself ALWAYS improves the result.

The other reason for knowing how to do it without a tool [for most sites] is to enhance your posts in many ways when HTML tools aren't offered or are but only in "crippled" fashion. If you can post text, you can add HTML - but the site may filter, so YRMV.

I would use Macromedia and create different hotspots and associate a new url to each. I have never tried but you may have to do 1 at a time and export after each one. If you don't have it, I could help.

It's called an image map! You can make one really easy in Paint Shop Pro, I know (it does it for you), but I've done it by hand (although in not many years).

You need to know coordinates of what sections you want them to click. The easiest are the box coords. You know how in an image program, when you hover over a section down at the bottom it'll tell you WHERE in the image you're at? You snag those. And insert them in a code.
